The role-

We are seeking an enthusiastic, driven, strategically minded Communications Manager who is experienced in all aspects of communications, PR, marketing, social media and emerging online technologies.

You will manage a small communications, design and print team in developing and delivering communication plans through different platforms including social media and new technologies to increase brand awareness, customer access and recognition for the council.

You will also work developing and enhancing relationships with stakeholders including politicians and the media. You will be responsible for the delivery of press releases both locally and nationally including monitoring press stories relating to the council and maximizing opportunities for positive PR.

You will also lead in the production of the council’s Your Borough magazine, produced four times a year. This will involve planning, editing, managing of advertising/sponsorship contracts and overseeing the design of each issue to budget and to meet print deadlines.

The post holder will also be required to attend some public events, evening council meetings and elections. Flexibility will also be required to meet deadlines and deal with urgent matters.

Essential qualifications/experience- 

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in working in communications, including managing a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and IT skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of communications including marketing, PR and digital media.

Desirable qualifications/experience-

  • Clean driving licence
