About the Role
Are you looking for an opportunity to build your career in the Emergency Management field?
The Emergency Management Team's purpose is to ensure that wellbeing of residents and communities during an emergency and to protect the economic prosperity of the county during periods of disruption. The team now provides the services to both the County Council and Surrey Fire and Rescue. To do this we are responsible for:
•working with partners in the Surrey Local Resilience Forum to ensure provide a coordinated response to emergencies
•ensuring the resilience of the council services by maintaining a robust Business Continuity Management System to protect critical services to residents
•working with organisers of major events to ensure that safety requirements and the needs of residents are addressed as part of the event planning.
To help us meet these responsibilities we are looking for someone to provide emergency planning and business continuity services to a number of districts and/or County Council services, and also have a particular responsibility for an area of emergency planning, business continuity and /or planning for major events.
The Senior Emergency Management Officers are the teams expert in these areas and must give authoritative advice and support to the wide range of organisations that the team works with.
To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:
•Have significant experience of working in emergency planning and business continuity
•A good knowledge of emergency planning and event safety at a national, regional and local level.
•A degree or a professional diploma in a related subject, or able to demonstrate a comparable level of capability.
