Ealing Council are looking for 2 motivated individuals to deal with all aspects of claims for Local Welfare Assistance.


As a member of Local Welfare Assistance Team you will be dealing with all aspects of applications from vulnerable residents for Community Care Grants, Crisis Payments, Discretionary Housing Payments and Discretionary Council Tax Support.


You will also be providing one to one support with budgeting for those who are experiencing financial hardship and, where necessary, you will be signposting the residents to other services and local support organisations for further help. You will also be carrying out home visits when required.


In order to carry out this role you will need a sound working knowledge of Housing Benefit regulations and other benefits administered by DWP and HMRC gained by recent experience of assessing claims for benefits. You will also have an understanding of the Welfare Reform and its potential impact on low income households. 


You will need to be a good communicator, possess excellent organisational skills, be able to cope well when working under pressure and be committed to providing a high level of customer care.


This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role.  This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
