Job Title: Head of Adult Disability Service
Salary Range: Circa £73-74 pa
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: x1 Permanent and x1 Fixed Term or Secondment opportunity
We are looking to recruit two Heads of Service positions within the Hertfordshire Adult Disability Service (ADS). ADS is a large service made up of locality social care and health teams (social work, occupational therapy nursing) and a number of specialist teams and acute health liaison services. In Hertfordshire our Adult Disability Service is committed to a personalised and evidenced based approach to our health and social care responsibilities. We have worked hard to ensure that our service is accessible and is driven by values of independence, equality, personal achievement and a good life. We also recognise that our experienced staff are core to how we support and work alongside local citizens. As a service we understand the need to support, trust, respect and allow our staff to do what they are best at, serving local communities.
As one of our heads you will be joining a service that has undergone significant change and transformation over the last two years. As such, you will be key in leading a service to now fully fulfil its new roles and aspirations. Overseeing a number of locality teams and services you will be responsible for ensuring that we meet the expectations of our communities in line with our statutory responsibilities and the County Council vision for Hertfordshire. You will manage one of the largest and most volatile budgets in the County Council ensuring that services are delivered within budget and that required efficiencies are achieved.
You will lead the implementation of our new social care model ‘Connected Lives’ within the service, making sure that all staff understand the concepts of personalised practice and supporting people to remain connected with the important things in their life or build connections where people have been prevented from doing so previously. You will link with commissioners to ensure that the partnership between operations and commissioning is seamless and forward thinking ensuring that co-production is key to all new strategic and commissioning developments. You will be pivotal in developing relationships across organisations and partners, making sure that ADS is engaged and pro-actively supports key strategies from Housing initiatives through to the ongoing STP development.
These are challenging yet highly rewarding roles in a service that we are very proud of and is nationally recognised for its personalised, rights based positive approach to inclusive practice. If you would like to work in an authority that truly values the profession and looks to social work to help lead and shape the future of social care then Hertfordshire is for you.
