Southwark is committed to compiling a complete and accurate Register of Electors, conducting and planning effective and efficient elections whilst improving service, quality standards and value for money.

This is your opportunity to work within a dynamic and challenging environment and team, which is critical to the continued delivery of effective elections in one of the most exciting Inner London boroughs.

The role will require you to assist the Deputy Electoral Services Manager to provide a professional service to the public, councillors, government departments, local authorities and colleagues within the council on all matters relating to electoral registration, elections and referendums, including preparing and maintaining an accurate register of electors. You will take responsibility for delivering key aspects of the planning and conduct of elections in accordance with PRINCE2 work packages, being wholly accountable for the quality and timelines of the products.

Knowledge of Electoral Services processes and the legal framework surrounding electoral functions is essential.

We are looking for exceptional candidates who are enthusiastic and innovative in their use of technology. Our legislative environment is still locked in the past. However we need to harness the best of the new technologies available to us, and use innovative and creative ways of achieving our objectives through the use of new technologies, while still working within the constraints imposed on us legislation.

This includes the use of digital tools and applications, social media, smart phones, tablets, GIS systems as well as understanding and using data sets. Our team is able to access and use data from all council services, and using this effectively is critical to our success in reaching and communicating with our residents.
