We are proud of what we have achieved through our joint working and we are passionate about delivering excellent services to our customers every day and meeting the needs of our local communities.
Our staff survey results consistently tell us that our employees think this is a great place to work and that they are proud to work for the Councils. An Investor in People (IiP) Assessor commented that, "staff are incredibly positive about their work for the Council, committed to its success and have a high level of satisfaction".
We are the Joint Waste Team and provide a waste and cleansing service to the residents of South Bucks, Chiltern and Wycombe District Councils. We now have a full time vacancy for a Contract Monitoring Officer and we are looking for the right individual to join our team. The role will support the effective ‘on the ground’ monitoring of our waste contracts.
You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers, and will have the highest customer service standards. You will inform continued service improvements through investigations and by working alongside our waste contractors. You will also support the delivery of all other aspects of waste services.
As Contract Monitoring Officer, you will:
- Monitor our waste contracts to ensure that high health & safety operational standards are applied to our collections of refuse, recycling, food & garden waste and to cleansing services
- Monitor and examine the services provided by our waste contractors, scrutinising their performance
- Deal effectively with customer complaints and problems impacting on service delivery for our waste and cleansing services
- Develop a good working knowledge of our waste contracts and use data to monitor performance against key outcome targets
It is essential that you have experience of monitoring contractor performance and an operational understanding of waste depots. If you have knowledge of waste legislation and contract management approaches, that would be an advantage. You will need to work under your own initiative and will also need to develop good working relationships with your contractors, waste team colleagues and other departments within the council. You will need to have effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Educated to GCSE grade C or above, in Maths and English, excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with a good working knowledge in Word and Excel.
