To assist the EnvironmentalHealth and Trading Standards Service in managing the Public Mortuary based inPoplar High Street, London E14.
To deliver a joined upresponse to the Coroner’s Service and to assist with discharging the Council’sduty in relation to Public Health funeral’s.
The successful candidatewill:
Beresponsible for the overall running of and help develop short and medium termstrategies to deliver the mortuary service.
Carryout casework, and assist the pathologist in post-mortems and forensiccases, including keeping records, administrative arrangements for the receptionof bodies into the mortuary and the release for burial or cremation.
Maintainan awareness of all legislation, professional development and new initiativesnationally and locally in respect of the mortuary service.
Undertakecasework of a high profile or complicated nature as necessary and assist thepathologist in post-mortems and forensic cases.
Tobe responsible for the health and safety policies applicable to themortuary.
Maintaina comprehensive system of monitoring and reporting of performance againsttargets.
Beable to work out of hours
Todevelop short and medium term strategies to deliver the mortuary service.
Aftera post-mortem, the post holder will help to reconstruct and clean the bodyready for storage or release to an undertaker.
In addition youwill manage the Parish Funerals process.
You will need to demonstrate thefollowing skills:
1. Experience of continuingprofessional development within the Mortuary Service.
2. Experience inmanaging a Mortuary.
3. Excellent communicationskills, both verbal and written.
4. Well organised, with good administrativeand computer skills.
In addition you will need tohave the following qualification:
Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology (orequivalent)
