About the Role

Burbank is an ‘Outstanding’ children’s home that is looking to recruit new staff to join our well established team.

Burbank works to meet the needs of looked after children between the ages of 10-16 working to restorative, strengths based values and Social Pedagogic approach.

The Social Pedagogic approach keeps the focus on building a positive, equal relationship by recognising, appreciating and respecting each other whilst also acknowledging the individual and the potential within. We hope to gain a better understanding of them by being Reflective in nature and seeing the world through their eyes. Setting the right environment, we are able to create learning opportunities to help them to develop risk competences that will enhance their overall well-being, build confidences and self-esteem.

Additionally you will need to have a knowledge of trauma, attachment and loss and how this impacts upon the lives of the young people we care for and be really committed to ensuring the best outcomes for young people and their families.

We really pride ourselves on our ability to work with a wide range of partner agencies and you will need to have good interpretive and interpersonal skills in order to liaise confidently.

Senior/ Qualified Residential Worker

We welcome ideas people who are creative, responsive and have the ability to see things through to conclusion, someone who can work with complex young people, developing care plans, risk assessments and other high quality documents. You will need to be aspirational – our children deserve the very best from the very best. As a Senior/ Qualified residential worker you will need excellent organisational skills, an ability to prioritise your workload, lead and co-ordinate shifts and additionally we would expect you to have the capacity to be able to support and supervise staff.

Requirements:

You will need as a minimum to either hold a Level 3 child care qualification or equivalent and / or be prepared to work towards achieving same. Ideally you will have experience of working in residential care. An ability to work flexible / unsocial hours, sleep overs and be prepared to train towards supervising staff.

The role requires that you hold a current driving licence.

Burbank can accommodate young people up to eighteen years of age; the legal requirement set out by the DFE requires that all staff need to be at least four years older than the oldest accommodated young person; therefore the minimum age for application for this position needs to be twenty-two years
