As a qualified social worker, you will be working at the forefront of best practice to deliver first class support to vulnerable children and families. This will include managing a complex and diverse caseload. As an innovation authority, we are committed to developing motivational social work practice and you will be trained to work in this way.
By changing our approach to families, they are changing their approach to us and we are managing to keep far more children at home safely with their families. You will carry out assessments and develop plans to support families using leading edge practices to create effective solutions for the children and families that we work with. You must have excellent written and verbal skills as you will need to prepare and deliver welfare reports to conferences and court hearings.
To be considered for one of our safeguarding teams, you will need to be a qualified and registered Social Worker with at least one year’s frontline experience as well as completion of your ASYE. You will have substantial knowledge of childcare legislation and experience of conducting assessments as well as presenting care plans to conferences and reviews.
You must be passionate about working with families to achieve the best outcome and will be a competent and proactive team player to support the smooth running and working of the service.

Our Assessment Teams undertake single child and family assessments for those circumstances where our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub has identified the need for a social work assessment.
Our Family Safeguarding Teams are multi-agency teams that work with Child Protection and Child in Need cases and conduct the majority of our care proceedings. These are multi-disciplinary teams consisting of professionals in children’s and adult social work, domestic abuse, substance misuse and mental health will work together to tackle the root causes of risk in families.
These teams have the benefit of police support two days per week to assist with aggressive or evasive families and police colleagues will do out of hours visits during evenings and weekends to families on this programme to check on their welfare. Our clinical psychology service will support PLO and proceedings work with specialist assessments.
Our Children Looked After teams are responsible for providing high quality support and planning for children and young people who are in long term foster care, residential care and semi-independent care up until the age of 18. You will be supported by a dedicated Health team and Virtual School as well as a Brokerage Team that will find the most suitable placement. The service is supported by two Adolescent Resource Centres with emergency assessment beds and a treatment fostering support team.
