Two year fixed term contract and/or secondment opportunity

Do you want one of the most exciting skills and employment jobs going?

The West London Alliance group of seven boroughs recently secured funding to deliver an ambitious skills programme that will create opportunities for thousands of individuals and businesses to succeed in work.

We are seeking an experienced skills professional with outstanding partnership working skills to coordinate and deliver this programme, which forms part of our wider joint Skills and Productivity Strategy. You will be self-starting, ambitious, and able to provide the leadership at all levels that delivers measurable results for residents, whatever their background. You will use your creativity and ability to distil complex issues into workable solutions for a wide range of senior audiences, taking every opportunity to develop innovative and creative practice and to secure further funding to reinvest in the skills the economy needs.

This role will involve a blend of strategic leadership and a thorough understanding of the skills agenda and the levers available to influence it. The successful candidate will have views on and take responsibility for a range of real-world policy areas, including the Apprenticeship levy, ESOL, understanding skills gaps and trends, and Information advice and Guidance services. You will also lead on identifying and securing new sources of funding wherever it can be found.

This role is a brilliant opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of thousands of people for years to come, and to establish a new model for delivering effective skills projects that can be used as a model nationally. The role is for a fixed period of two years. Secondments welcomed.

For an informal conversation please contact Luke Ward, head of growth, employment and skills on 07738 802 929.

Secondments are welcome.  If you are applying as a secondment, you must ensure a secondment release form is signed by your line manager before applying and email it to HRSSC-RecruitmentTeam@ealing.gov.uk by the application closing date.
