A vacancy exists for a Housing Renewal Officer to join the busy Housing Renewal team, within Regulatory Services at the Isle of Wight Council.

You will be required to administer disabled facilities and repairs grants, as well as applications for house in multiple occupation licensing. In addition to this you will be involved in a variety of housing, HMO and drainage enforcement matters; investigating and processing cases up to and including court action.

With considerable experience of inspecting residential property, you will possess an up to date knowledge of the housing and building standards sector. You must have excellent communication skills, a passion for helping vulnerable people, the ability to be tactful and think on your feet, be versatile, and able to perform under pressure.

Some out of hours work may be required.

You must possess a minimum of HND or equivalent in a building or housing related subject, and ideally have a certificate in HHSRS application and enforcement.
You must possess a full current driving licence and use of a car for which a car user allowance is payable.
