The Isle of Wight Council is seeking to recruit to its team of building surveyors. We have two vacancies, one Area Building Control Surveyor and one Senior Building Control Surveyor.
These posts are temporary contracts for 12 months and 37 hours a week. Consideration will be given to applicants, however, who are interested in a shorter term contracts or fewer hours per week, in which case the salary will be pro-rata.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to organise a broad and interesting workload efficiently and effectively, you will deal with the full range of Building Control work within one of the most beautiful parts of the country. In addition, for the Senior role, you will be responsible for the daily management of a small team of surveyors and assist in further developing the aims of the service.
The Service has a reputation for delivering a high quality customer focused service and maintains a very large market share of building control work. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.
The successful applicant will ideally be a Corporate Member of RICS or equivalent with extensive experience in Building Control and to be considered for the Senior position you must hold a relevant construction qualification at degree level or equivalent. However, applicants with a minimum qualification of HNC in Building Studies together with GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths and extensive experience in Building Control will also be considered for one of these positions.
A full clean driving licence and use of a car on a daily basis is essential.
