An exciting opportunity has arisen within The Children’s Disability Service and we are looking to recruit a full time (fixed term for one year) Specialist Intervention Supervisor to work with severely disabled children and young people aged 0-19 and their families who require emergency and crisis intervention support.  The role will require flexibility and adaptability in working hours necessary to meet the needs of the service – including weekends, evenings, school holidays and after school hours and is a countywide position.

Your role will be to lead and supervise a dedicated staff team of Specialist intervention Workers who will be provide flexible and responsive high standard support, supervision, practical and emotional support and stability to disabled children and young people to help them to reach their potential in partnership with their families and other agencies.  The team will be providing a range of short break services to disabled children and their families, including working directly with disabled children and young people to undertake personal care providing activities in their home and in the community including managing children with challenging behaviour.   You will be supported by high quality regular supervision and training.

You will need to be confident in using your initiative in supporting other workers.   You will have some previous experience of supervising / leading a team and you will have some experience and knowledge of the particular challenges of working with disabled children and young people, for example some experience of managing challenging behaviours, undertaking risk assessments and implementing positive behaviour strategies.

On occasions you may be working with children who have experienced abuse or neglectful backgrounds and you will need to be confident working with young people in the community on a one to one basis.

We are looking for experienced, flexible and creative staff who can make positive relationships with young people. Ability to work flexibly with children and young people of all ages. You will require an enhanced DBS check.
