We are looking for:
Volk’s Electric Railway. X 1 Full Time Seasonal Train Driver & Cashier 2018 - 37 hours
Volk’s Electric Railway. X 1 Part Time Seasonal Train Driver & Cashier 2018 – 20 hours
Fixed Term contracts from March 25th to November 3rd 2019
Full Time Rota: Staff are required to work a rota, this includes working five weekends in six, and some bank holidays to 6.45pm
Part Time rota: Monday to Friday 12.00pm to 16.00pm covering the lunch breaks of drivers and cashiers
During the summer season after you have received training and a medical you would take exams to receive certification, you will then be able to drive trains along the beach adjacent to Madeira Drive.
Cashiering Duties at either station on the World’s Oldest Electric Railway is also a requirement on alternate days.
Candidates must have extensive cash handling experience and excellent customer care skills.
You must be able to show past experience of working in shops or retail with the public.
Experience of driving motor vehicles is an advantage.
It is also a requirement that you are physically fit with good eyesight as a medical test is required in order to drive the trains.
You must have a basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues around railways.
Train driving and cashiering is carried out on alternate days on a rota basis and you get two week days off during the week, but not always the same days.
Full training will be given in driving the Volk's Railway Trains, and also in cashiering with our machines, and you will be required to undertake four exams and gain certification to go on or near the railway track.
A total commitment to teamwork and a full understanding of all health and safety issues on railways are the most important qualities for this position.
