An opportunity has arisen for two Town Planning Support Officers.
Primarily supporting the Town Planning and Enforcement teams, these posts sit within the wider functions of the Operational Support Hub for Place, providing a flexible workforce for the Council as part of its agile working strategy.
We are currently located in Enfield Council’s main office, the Civic Centre in the heart of Enfield Town.
The role is responsible for engaging with a variety of internal and external customers including applicants and agents submitting their planning applications and appeals, residents reporting environmental issues, and customers and residents involved in the sale and purchase of property within the Borough.
We are an enthusiastic and friendly team of 11 staff undertaking a variety of work on behalf of the Development Management team. Initially, you will be working alongside 4 colleagues, validating and registering planning applications and fees, supporting statutory planning publicity functions and liaising directly with customers, residents and businesses responding to their planning enquiries. You will be delivering an effective and efficient service within a statutory performance framework.
Comprehensive training will be given however an understanding of the role that Planning plays in the delivery of the Councils key objectives would be highly beneficial.
If you have experience in working in a Town Planning, Planning Policy or similar local authority environment, can meet challenging deadlines within a fast paced and high-profile service; have excellent attention to detail; can develop excellent working relationships with colleagues and customers from a range of backgrounds, and are able to work both independently and collaboratively to find solutions, then we would like to hear from you.

The standard process is for posts to be advertised on the Councils redeployment and internal site concurrently, however those members of staff that are at risk of redundancy and on the Council’s redeployment register will be considered first.
All appointments will be made at the bottom point of the salary range.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post.
