Here in Central Bedfordshire, we want to maximise the wellbeing of our residents. We aim to engage our residents in a wide range of opportunities in sport, active recreation, learning and culture through our six leisure centres, one theatre and two football facilities. Plus, we’re enhancing our ability to do this by embarking on a £20million improvement programme for Dunstable Leisure Centre.
The Leisure Development Officer role will play a central part to support and develop purposeful relationships with a range of stakeholders, groups, clubs, customers and Sport England. The post holder will look to support and develop engagement which increases participation in sport and physical activity and delivers broad outcomes for the authority and its key partners including Sport England across 6 leisure centres and community football facilities.
The role will involve supporting and developing engagement with a range of stakeholders to increase participation at The Grove Theatre ensuring that the Arts Council England’s priority focus on children and young people can be embedded into the programme. Exploring and supporting a broader programming across the council venues to attract new audiences, create a cohesive cultural offer and, through the operating model, add value to the Arts Council England priorities of how working with children and young people can be embedded into the programming and education and outreach work.
A reliable, trustworthy and solution-focused ambassador for the service, you’ll also be instrumental in supporting customers and clubs from the Dunstable Leisure Centre when the centre re-opens after the major redevelopment in early 2019.
Sensitive to the fact that you are using taxpayers’ money, you will be strong on planning and executing projects, with good attention to detail and the determination to see things through to completion. Your passion for working with customers will make you stand out.
We are looking for a new team member that has qualifications or experience necessary to perform the job. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in related discipline such as (Sports science, business, arts culture & community engagement) demonstrable experience of working with stakeholders to develop service delivery and improve outcomes for customers as well as experience in working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
