About the role
The Economic Growth Team has been set up to ensure that our businesses and residents benefit from the regeneration, investment and growth of the borough. Resident and business involvement is key to successful delivery and is at the heart of the Council’s ambitions.
The Economic Development Manager (Employment and Skills Specialism) works alongside the wider team to design and deliver strategic plans and programmes of support for employment and skills, working with businesses to understand their skills needs and influencing local skills providers to deliver this. In addition the role is responsible for spending the Council’s apprenticeship levy and connecting skills, employment provision to referral partners and lead discussions with developers via the planning process to maximise skills and employment outcomes for our residents. At the heart of this role is the understanding that growth and regeneration should happen for and with our residents and businesses – not to them.
You will need to be able to think strategically, build robust relationships, and manage budgets and staff.
