Salary: £28,907 per year (pay award pending)

About the role:
This is a new role to lead a brand new team! We are looking for a supervisor to oversee and work alongside the environmental maintenance and improvements team within a shared service between South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils.
Becoming part of our team you should have excellent communication skills and be capable of managing operatives as part of a mobile crew ensuring that all work is carried out to a high standard. The aim of the team is to improve “civic pride” by taking action which helps residents and community groups to make the neighbourhood a cleaner and greener place to live.
The supervisor will support the Technical Projects team leader to recruit a team and have direct responsibility for reactive service related work and deliver on projects that potentially cut across the responsibility of in-house services, external agencies or contractors.
The post holder will work alongside the team on practical “hands on” activities to supervise the team. There is some office work for example to record work completed and help to prioritise future tasks.
- Technical diploma or higher education certificates.
- At least two years on the job experience in ground maintenance, street works or highway repairs.
- Wide experience of supervising and leading a team of manual workers.
- Recognised health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH.
- NHSS relevant to working adjacent to roads or in open spaces.
- Arboriculture or horticultural knowledge.
If you have the following experience or qualifications – it’s a bonus:
- Experience of working in a local authority.
- Knowledge of systems to log, assign and record work completed.
