About the Role
This is a key post within the Place Department. The post holder will play a significant role in delivering the Council’s statutory undertakers planned and emergency works programme within an area of 87km² that extends from Upper Norwood in the north to Old Coulsdon in the south which is supported by a road network of 726km.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised Senior Streetworks Coordinator with specialist knowledge, experience and skills to maintain and manage the statutory undertakers who work on the public highway on behalf of the Council. In addition the post polder will manage a team of five street works coordinators and work closely with the Senior Coring Engineer. We require someone who is keen to take on responsibility for managing a team in setting up and implementing a coring programme within the parameter of Traffic Management Act 2004, New Road and Street Works Act 1991, the Highways Act 1980 and the relevant codes of practices. Croydon operates a Permit Scheme therefore an understanding of how it operates will be an advantage as will a working knowledge of the EToN software system.
Reporting to the Service Manager, the post holder will lead the delivery of statutory undertakers projects including monitoring and managing emergency works. You will be required to draft policy documents, analysis technical data produce statistical analysis on the performance of statutory undertakers and where required arrange performance meetings. You will represent the Council at senior level meetings and also work closely with other members of the Highways Network Management Team, whose tasks are varied and wide ranging. You will manage staff from end to end on monitoring and ensuring the Council upholds its statutory Network Management Duty whilst works in progress. You will be part of an enthusiastic team which is committed to high standards of working. A knowledge of the borough and its network as well as the geographical layout is an advantage.
