This is a full time post working in the Development Control Service managing the day to day operation of the Planning Support Team to ensure that the service is delivered to a high standard in accordance with planning legislation and Council specific principles. The ideal candidate will act in a positive, professional manner to assist with the delivery of the service while supervising a team of staff responsible for providing technical support to the planning applications team.
Duties within the team include provision of general support for the planning application service including answering phone calls and incoming letters and emails to the Development Control Teams within the Planning Division, dealing with planning enquiries, property history searches and publications as well as providing planning and technical administrative support by receiving, logging and validating applications within agreed timescales producing and issuing agendas and decision notices and assisting in the management of the planning application process.
Suitable candidates must have excellent organisational, planning and prioritising abilities with a proven track record of supervising and motivating staff. A background in planning would be desirable but not essential for a candidate with proven management experience.
