This post is based on the Private Rented Housing Team; the successful candidate will have the opportunity to become involved in a wide range of functions including, enforcement of Housing Act 2004, Caravan Site licensing, HMO licensing, unauthorised encampments and illegal eviction and harassment issues.
It is essential the candidate has a vocational qualification to at least level 4 (or equivalent) in either environmental health, housing or building construction and has significant experience of improving poor housing conditions in the private rented sector through the use of a range of enforcement/other options. A broad knowledge of the private rented housing sector would be expected.
It is essential the candidate is qualified to inspect properties using the housing health and safety rating system together with extensive practical experience of using this method of risk assessment as this role will be expected to provide guidance and support to less experienced members of the team.
Excellent communication skills are vital to deal with the wide range of clients you will meet and you may be expected to represent the council at court and tribunal hearings.
The post is a job share post and therefore the days to be worked (Wednesday pm, Thursday and Friday all day) are not flexible due to the functions being carried out by an existing post holder at the beginning of the week.
