Advert introductionBrighton & Hove Children's services are on a journey to improve outcomes for the children and families we support. Under our DCS, Pinaki Ghoshal, we have become one Children's Service and we have excellent multi-agency partner working – established, challenged and supported by an effective LSCB. We have re-designed our Children’s Social Work services to introduce a ‘Team Around the Relationship Model’, supporting our social workers to undertake relationship-based practice with children and families to help create safe and stable family lives. We are working with a range of partners, including the University of Sussex, the Centre for Social Work Practice, the Tavistock Centre, and our staff and children and families to make this vision a reality. We offer group supervision and Reflective Practice Groups to ensure that social workers receive robust and reflective support.
Main advert detailWe require a Pod Manager for one of our small teams, of up to 7 social workers, which support children from the assessment stage all the way through their journey in our system.
As a skilled and knowledgeable social work practitioner, you will have the ability to inspire and lead other social workers. You will be able to provide support and containment for social workers at the same time as being accountable for the performance of a team delivering complex services. As well as a commitment to good outcomes for vulnerable children at all levels you will be able to support relationship-based practice across the team, promoting and modelling the values of this practice and our organisation.
Your social workers will have trust and confidence in you and you will demonstrate authority and accountability. You will lead on both individual and group supervision and be committed to the continuing development of our staff. This role is crucial in making our model of practice work, as it is the key management role, being responsible for decision-making within the social work team and reporting directly to a Head of Service who is part of the Senior Management Team.
We welcome applications from all sections of the community but particularly encourage applicants from a BME or White Other background as well as those who identify as disabled, LGB, male or trans as these groups are currently under-represented in our Directorate workforce.
