Croydon is one of the busiest retail and business centres in the south of England outside of Central London. It has the largest population of any London Borough and its success as a regional centre very much depends upon the way its day-to-day traffic, highway, parking and road safety issues are managed.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised individual with the scope to develop and deliver a wide range of road safety education, training and publicity campaigns throughout the borough.
This will include organising events, campaigns and presentations, often with external companies, and assisting our engineers on road safety audits of highway schemes. You will also have an understanding of Behaviour Change techniques, evaluation processes, collision investigation, and an understanding of ‘Vision Zero’.
The post holder is required to manage their workload, with limited supervision and be able to provide stakeholders with a professional and efficient service. You will possess good administrative skills and an enthusiasm to deliver high impact road safety campaigns on time and to budget.
You must be computer literate and have experience in the use of social media, spreadsheets and geographic information systems.
You will also have excellent oral and written skills, the ability to work on your own initiative and be able to represent the team at internal and external meetings. You should also have a current driving licence, or be able to travel quickly and efficiently around the Borough by other means.
This is a key post within the Public Realm Division of the Place Department.
