Lewes District and Eastbourne Borough Councils have joined forces to strengthen our resilience and to adapt to the new financial climate.
The financial climate in local government has been challenging for a number of years, so rather than cutting services Lewes and Eastbourne have taken the more radical approach of joining forces to create single teams to service the two separate Councils. This has already taken place in some service areas and is continuing apace to ensure an excellent level of customer service and continued delivery of all Council services.
Lewes District Council currently has an in house waste team and are in the process of moving the EBC waste contract into a local authority controlled company, with a full waste review to be carried out across both authorities. Waste and Recycling services across the two councils will come under the management of Environment First. The addition of the new work force, maintaining health and safety standards and the operation of the fleet and depot across the two sites require strong and focused leadership which is why the new team structure includes a Head of Environment First with Managers for Lewes and Eastbourne Waste as well as a Fleet Manager supporting this role.
We would love you to find out more, and ultimately, come and join us.
