About the Role
The primary role of the Transport Manager is to ensure the efficient & effective running of the Council’s Fleet services, whilst maintaining compliance with all aspects of the operator’s licence. This involves the procurement, management, maintenance and repair of all of the Council’s vehicles across a number of service areas.
You will be also responsible for managing the day-to-day running of an in-house workshop which facilitates the repair of fleet vehicles, provides MOT services for class 4, 5 & 7 vehicles and taxi plating. In addition, the Transport Manager will lead on the planning & co-ordination of the vehicle capital replacement programme and any associated work streams.
About the Person
-We need your extensive fleet management experience to drive through successful change; through vision and innovative ways of working, which will improve our fleet management and workshop practices.
-You need to be highly organised, motivated and have strong leadership skills
-Strong interpersonal skills to ensure excellent customer care and cross service collaboration
-You will be qualified to hold the council’s Operators License (O License) and will need to be qualified in vehicle maintenance and workshop management (a member of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, or equivalent).
