About us

The Beach House is a service which provides respite and short breaks for adults who have learning disabilities. An opportunity has arisen for a 25 hour Deputy Manager to join the team facilitating the provision of respite, and emergency accommodation. The role includes leading shifts, managing staff and working closely with other professionals and families to deliver a high quality service.

The Beach House is a purpose built modern facility near Hove seafront. The service users can present with a variety of needs including challenging behaviour, epilepsy and complex health needs.

The Beach House is a CQC registered service and the deputy managers have some key areas of responsibility to ensure that the service meets these standards.

The Beach house has a large service user group, and so the staff are required to work with a great variety of people with different needs and from situations, this can mean that the job is both challenging and rewarding.

Our last CQC inspection rated the service as “good” and the inspectors highlighted the fact ‘Two people were able to tell us they felt safe. One person said, “I don’t feel worried or scared but if I did I would speak to the manager or my keyworker”. People were relaxed with staff, freely approached them, made eye contact, smiled and chatted with and actively sought out staff. This indicated they felt safe at the home with staff. Relatives told us they felt their family members were safe at the home.’

We are looking to recruit a Deputy Manager who has proven experience of working with people who have learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. You will play an important role in supporting the manager to further develop the service and lead the staff team. You will also need to work closely with families and a multi disciplinary team.

About you

You will need to have experience and an understanding of staff supervision, have clear written and verbal communication skills and be able to work within and manage the team. It is preferable that the successful candidate has a full driving licence (three points maximum) to drive the unit car.

If you would like to help us to achieve these aims and have experience or a real interest in working with people with Autism and a Learning Disability, we would very much like to hear from you. In return we will offer you training and development opportunities, excellent support mechanisms and a varied and challenging work environment and the opportunity to be part of our excellent team.
