About the Role

Croydon Council has an exciting opportunity for Revenues Officers in its Council Tax Collections Team. We are looking for inspirational people to join us permanently and help continue and improve the service we provide.
We pride ourselves on doing the best for our community and you, as a Revenues Officer, you will play a key part in this. We are fiercely ambitious and want to be the best collection service in London. With an annual income target exceeding £200m, we have a huge challenge but with much opportunity for successful candidates.
You will be dealing with all aspects of the billing, collection and recovery of council tax. The successful candidate should have excellent working knowledge of council tax, possess good communication skills and be capable of negotiating and dealing with difficult situations in a tactful and assertive manner. Some benefits knowledge would be an advantage but not essential
The purpose of the role is to provide an excellent service to all customers requiring assistance in resolving their account queries to enable the efficient collection and recovery of council tax in order to maximise customer satisfaction and revenue collection for the Council
The role includes
Administering the Billing, Collection and Recovery of Council Tax
Opening, closing and amending accounts
Negotiating payment plans and taking payments
Applying discounts, reliefs and exemptions
Liaising with external companies such as Enforcement Agents
Dealing with enquiries by telephone, and written correspondence on all queries related to Council Tax.
Proficient use of the Northgate ICT system is preferable, but not essential
