Workplace Compliance Officer

Grade 7 £18,488 to £20,370
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and resilient individual to work as a member of our licensing team dealing with a range of business licences including taxi, alcohol premises and gambling.
The work will involve building good relationships with licence-holders, applicants, councillors, colleagues and external partners, including the police, fire service & trading standards. Workloads will often be heavy so the ability to work to deadlines and manage conflicting demands is essential. You will provide advice to a range of service users and undertake regulatory inspections across a range of licenced activities. You will also prepare reports for presentation to Licensing Committee hearings.
The post holder will be innovative, seeking out alternative ways to promote and drive compliance. They will also have high standards of integrity, be calm under pressure and be committed to public protection principles whilst understanding current issues affecting the licenced trade.
Experience of regulating within an Environmental Health, Licensing or similar framework is essential. It is also essential that you have experience of gathering and interpreting statistical information and of interpreting and enforcing legislation.
The Council’s licensing service is delivered by a strategic partner (Liberata UK Ltd), and the successful post-holder will be seconded to the strategic partner.
