About the Role
Come and work for Property Services within the Orbis partnership, which encompasses Surrey County Council, East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council. The partnership is designed to deliver greater value for our councils, residents and customers by increasing efficiencies and maximizing the benefits of sharing skills, resources and technology.
We are recruiting now for a Building Surveyor (Repairs and Condition Surveys), to be based in Kingston-Upon-Thames working for Surrey County Council. You will be working with property professionals, fostering relationships with Surveyors, Architects, and Quantity Surveyors within the Maintenance Team and across the wider Property Service to provide an excellent reactive maintenance service across the property portfolio.
You will have financial awareness of what is being spent and the ability to provide technical solutions to building issues as well as working closely with the Property Helpdesk. The role will also require you to be part of an out of hour’s rota (approximately on call every 3 months). You will have a very high level knowledge of building maintenance issues and experience of working in this field.
A typical day could include, discussing issues with building users and members of the public on the phone, face to face in meetings and communication via email. Making decisions on building maintenance issues as well as visiting the varied properties in our portfolio including schools, fire stations, library’s, corporate buildings & farms.
You will be working on specific Property and Project based IT systems and will need to be adaptable and competent in this area of technology.

- That you are a good confident communicator and have the ability to communicate technical messages to a variety of stakeholders including building users, property colleagues, Senior managers and the public;
- Experience of managing and delivering a variety of projects in a fast paced environment, where projects are delivered on time and to budget;
- Experience in dealing with a high workload and the ability to prioritise different tasks;

- Financial awareness and a sound understanding of monetary controls;
