Tree Health Projects Officer

Starting Salary: £26,470 pa progressing to £33,136 pa pro rata for part time hours & dependent on experience
23 hours per week, Fixed Term/Secondment Contract to 31st March 2021

We work in partnership with landowners and communities to develop projects that enhance the environment for people and wildlife. We also provide opportunities for informal recreation through leading events and guided walks, promoting cycle routes linking towns and the countryside and devising site based leaflets and interpretation.

We are looking for a proactive person to join our team and co-ordinate Hertfordshire’s response to the challenges posed by tree health issues such as Ash Dieback and Oak Processionary Moth. Tree health is a growing area of concern both within and outside of the environmental sector. This role will also provide an opportunity to develop your own expertise in this increasingly important area.

You will need exceptional communication skills with which to develop and convey targeted messages to a broad range of professional and non- technical audiences.  You will develop and deliver a local Tree Health Action Plan and coordinate advice, influence and deliver action across the local government, community and landowning sectors.

You’ll need to combine plenty of vision and enthusiasm with the initiative to work autonomously, the ability to develop partnerships, persuade and motivate others, and the drive to achieve great results.

Successful candidates are likely to have a demonstrable track record in a relevant industry and/or relevant qualification.

A full current driving licence is essential as the post holder will be expected to carry out site visits, lead guided walks and events in rural locations with difficult terrain.
