A skilled Joiner is required by the Repairs and Maintenance Section within the Directorate for Communities and the Environment to undertake responsive and planned maintenance works to Lancaster City Council’s housing and non-housing stock.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent core joinery skills and techniques, and ideally also have the flexibility of other craft based maintenance skills to meet the demands of our maintenance workload. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision and be able to meet completion times whilst ensuring high standards for workmanship and customer satisfaction.
It is essential that the successful candidate is able to demonstrate communication skills and a customer focus. A NVQ Level 3 City & Guilds advanced craft in joinery qualification, or equivalent, is essential for this post. Ideally the post holder will have suitable working experience of a maintenance environment and hold a relevant CSCS skills card.
A current full UK driving licence is also essential for this post, as the postholder will be required to provide responsive support across the district and transport all equipment and tools needed.
The post holder will also be required to have knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, use a PDA and comply with reporting and communication systems, appropriate training will be provided.
Your normal working hours will be 37 per week, working Monday to Thursday, 8.00am – 4.30pm and Friday, 8.00am - 3.30pm. You are required for operational purposes to work 39 hours per week (as this is in excess of the standard 37 hour week, you will accrue 1 days leave for every 20 days worked). Your administrative centre will be White Lund Depot, Morecambe.
You may be required to undertake Standby duties to cover out of hours work.
