Houghton Hall Park, Houghton Regis is a hidden gem; a semi natural park located in the midst of an urban community which is undergoing significant restoration as part of a Heritage Lottery (HLF)/ Big Lottery ‘Parks for People’ funded project. The project which is a partnership between Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) and Houghton Regis Town Council (HRTC) includes large scale restoration of the landscape plus the restoration of a working kitchen garden and formal garden. It also incorporates a new visitor centre as well as an extensive community engagement, volunteer and activity programme to increase community use of the park and to generate income.
Based in the new Visitor Centre at Houghton Hall Park in Houghton Regis, you will be responsible for the development, delivery and coordination of an exciting and varied events and activities programme as outlined in the HLF approved People Plan. You will work closely with partners, user groups, volunteers and schools as well as CBC and HRTC officers to maximise visits to and use of Houghton Hall Park.
You will communicate with new and potential visitors through social media, newsletters and in person, and champion the brand new facilities through effective promotion and marketing.
To join us, you will have:
- Experience of planning and delivering event/activity programmes including working with external delivery partners
- Confidence to interact with a wide range of people and communicate across various channels with diverse audiences
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service as the main point of contact for enquiries
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills to support the operational elements of the park and visitor centre
- Experience of managing, training and coordinating volunteers
- Creativity, imagination and drive to deliver a fun and varied programme
- Flexibility to be able to work evenings and weekends when required
