North Somerset Council’s Strategic Procurement Service has the remit to improve efficiency and deliver ongoing savings. The council spends around £170m per annum with external suppliers across a range of categories including social care, highways, construction, leisure, waste services and IT.

 

Reporting to the Procurement Manager you will support the development of category management strategies through analysing markets, spend data and best practice. You will also support the implementation of a new Procurement Strategy through improving and streamlining procurement procedures, as well as developing policies in areas such as social value, local suppliers and voluntary sector commissioning. You will also work closely with procurement teams in neighbouring authorities to share best practice and exploit opportunities for collaboration.

 

Applicants should be working towards MCIPS qualification, and should have relevant experience in a similar organisation, as well as being able to demonstrate strong analytical, communication and organisational skills.
