We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and innovative Consultant in Public Health, who will be based within the shared public health service across Camden and Islington Councils, but working on behalf of all five boroughs within the North London Partners STP footprint (Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington).  The postholder will be professionally accountable to the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington, and managerially accountable to the Joint Director of Public Health, Camden and Islington, who is also the Senior Responsible Officer for the Prevention workstream of North London Partners STP.

The post holder will provide senior programme and system leadership for the prevention workstream across North Central London.  He/she will develop, lead, influence and manage our prevention programme, helping to champion and embed a more systematic and at-scale focus on prevention within North London’s health and care system and beyond in order to improve outcomes and reduce inequalities.

The postholder will bring together a wide range of stakeholders to support the delivery of priority, evidence-based public health programmes and interventions across the health and care system, with a particular focus on our ‘big three’ prevention priorities: alcohol, tobacco and overweight and obesity.  A key part of this role will be engaging senior board level and operational leadership within health and care provider organisations across North London to champion, introduce and deliver key, evidence based prevention interventions and programmes at scale across the sector.

The postholder will also play a key role working alongside, influencing and supporting other STP workstreams to identify and capitalise on opportunities for embedding prevention across the system.

This is an exciting and challenging role which will require vision, energy, motivation, and the ability to inspire colleagues across a range of organisations.

This post will be employed by London Borough of Islington.
