Commercial and Contracts Manager
PO13, £63,387 - £64,422 per annum
Housing is a top priority for Hackney. Ensuring that we deliver a high quality, customer focussed repairs service across our 30,000 homes is paramount. We have recently remodelled our repairs service to match our aspirations and are now looking for senior managers who can take us on the next stage of our improvement journey.
Hackney Council is looking for an experienced senior manager to lead on the development and day-to-day management of our building maintenance contracts. You will help make sure our contracts provide good value for money for our residents and lead on high-profile re-commissioning and procurement initiatives.
You will be responsible for putting in place effective governance, financial management and performance frameworks, helping ensure we promote continuous improvement. You will also provide leadership and direction to a small team of quantity surveying and contract management staff. You will encourage them to add value through high quality analysis, financial scrutiny and collaborative working.
You must have substantial knowledge of commercial and contract management within the building maintenance industry. We need someone with a strong track record of successfully defining and managing working relationships with contractors in a complex delivery environment. To thrive in this role you will need strong commercial awareness, excellent negotiating skills and a passion for getting the best deal for our residents.
You should be adept at driving performance and promoting new delivery models to achieve the best possible outcomes for customers. Your leadership, strategic overview and ability to identify opportunities for improvement will be essential. You must demonstrate excellent technical skills with a good understanding of associated health and safety, compliance and the legislative frameworks within which we work.
Successful applicants will be either a Member of RICS or CiOH and have relevant health and safety qualifications or experience.
