Following the relocation of the current post holder, a rare opportunity has arisen for a Tree Officer within the Development Management department at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.
The Development Management department is dynamic, high performing, fast paced and plays a fundamental role in shaping the attractive and varied townscapes and environments of the Borough. The department (and Planning Services as a whole) operates on a positive and “open for business” approach, with good working relationships with elected Members and a priority to maintain the image of a ‘Green Borough’.
The main role of the Tree Officer is to deal with applications under the TPO legislation, to assess trees for suitability of new TPOs and to support planning officers to produce development that strengthens the aim to create a suitable green environment for all.
These are truly exciting times for Planning Services as proposals for a number of key sites within the Borough are coming forward, and rapid progress is being made on the new Local Plan, which will include progressive strategic and allocation policies, and provide opportunities to work on some exhilarating planning proposals in the very near future.
The Council will also be moving to new offices within the heart of Tunbridge Wells in a couple of years time, which are being constructed together with a new theatre. Further information on the office and theatre is available here: http://calverleysquare.co.uk/. Planning Services will be working on an increasingly agile and flexible basis in the coming months and years in preparation for the move to the new office.
We are looking for a positive, energetic and conscientious person, preferably with relevant Local Authority experience in a similar role to join the team to help improve and deliver the future development of the Borough.
The Tree Officer is essential to the delivery of the high quality service that we offer and is supported by other specialist officers within Planning Services as well as the wider planning team.
Additional benefits for this post include 26 days annual leave (increasing to 29 days after 5 years Local Government service), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme as well as invaluable training opportunities for continuing professional development.
