Queensmill Special School
TEACHING ASSISTANTS REQUIRED
Scale 3, SCP 14 to Scale 4, SCP 21
Queensmill is a special school for pupils with autism. Rated as ‘Outstanding’ in four successive Ofsted Inspections, the most recent in May 2018, the school has an exceptional track record in supporting children with complex and moderate autism to make progress. We are a school that has an extensive range of provision to ensure the unique needs of each child are met and that where there are opportunities to integrate with the wider community, be that employment or mainstream school, we take them
We are looking for Teaching Assistants to join our large and very enthusiastic staff team who work with our children and young people from ages 2 – 25.
Some experience of school work would be helpful but not essential and you need to be hard working and really enjoy being with children.
Our classes are small, the majority have nine children in each, and each class has a teacher, a nursery nurse or higher level teaching assistant, and at least two teaching assistants. Despite all this staffing, it is physically and emotionally demanding work, but if you enjoy the work it is very rewarding. All of us at Queensmill take huge pleasure at each small step of progress made by our children.
Staff and governors of the school are committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all of our children and young people. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be required for successful candidates, as well as verified references, photographic identification, and verification of any necessary overseas eligibility to work in the UK.
