Working in Lambeth will probably be the toughest but most rewarding job in your career. As our retention statistics show, once you arrive, you won’t want to leave!

At Lambeth, our Team Managers are empowering and inspiring our social workers to get the best outcomes for children, young people and their families. We’re now looking for Team Managers to continue the improvements recognised by Ofsted in our 2018 inspection.
Lambeth is a great place for both new and experienced team managers. A Lambeth team manager is the leader for their team, ensuring that the team’s work is purposeful, that risk is managed well and intervention is only undertaken when it is in the child’s best interests. Our clear Children at the Heart of Practice framework (click here to read) puts the focus back on relationship-based social work and you’ll be supported to deliver this through bespoke training and access to improvement support.

In the Children Looked After Service, we are looking for a Children Looked After Team Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to use your strong relationship-based social work skills and expertise in safeguarding and care planning to really make a difference to the lives and achievements for the children and young people looked after by Lambeth.

As a Children Looked After Team Manager, you will lead a group of six social workers supporting their practice, planning and interventions with looked after children and young people. You will champion and oversee high quality social work assessments, effective interventions and timely planning. Your skills in direct work with children and families, Court work, securing permanence, galvanising family networks and supporting unaccompanied asylum seeking children will be deployed to ensure that looked after children have the relationships, care and opportunities to successfully develop into adulthood.
The Children Looked After Service works alongside, children, parents, family networks, carers and our agency colleagues to meet the needs of children looked after by Lambeth.

You will be accountable for the performance of your team and we have high expectations, but you will also have real autonomy to make the changes you see fit. You will be responsible for running regular group supervision with a focus on consistently high practice and you can draw on the support of advanced practitioners who can help your social workers and can co-work the most complex cases in your team. A creative problem-solver, your can-do approach and commitment to quality will inspire your team to achieve excellence.

All our team managers:
• Manage a small team of only six social workers
• Have a dedicated business support officer to support their team
• Are part of active leadership groups which are about embedding our new heart of practice and leadership culture
• Receive high quality ongoing training in systemic theory and methodologies; Signs of Safety and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy
• Earn up to £53k including market supplement
• Access to great transport links and a new build office in the heart of Brixton
• Receive a comprehensive and competitive pay and benefits package
