The Post


Our brand new Performance, Insight and Improvement service acts as a specialist resource across our Community Wellbeing Department; which encompasses Housing, Adult Social Care, Culture & Leisure and Public Health. The service will be central to helping the department develop a better understanding of the challenges facing our services, to robustly monitor and improve quality, and to gain more sophisticated insight into the needs and experiences of our customers – and then ensure we utilise all of this knowledge to design and deliver lasting improvements across our services.




Key Functionalities



As part of a small team, you will support the delivery of a range of performance management activity for a service area within Community Wellbeing; either Adult Social Care, Housing, Culture and Public Health, or Research and Insight. You’ll support analysis for statutory and corporate performance reporting, and project work to support and inform service improvement initiatives. Working with a team of insight and performance analysts, you’ll help to improve data quality, develop and improve our performance systems and support in the development of Customer Insights.

Our analysts work together as a single performance team, giving them the opportunity to develop and learn from one another. They are aligned to a particular function (Adult Social Care, Housing, or Insight) in order to build specialist knowledge, but also have the opportunity to work on projects across the whole of Community Wellbeing, so this is a unique opportunity gain exposure to a wide range of services.

You will use a wide variety of reporting tools including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and use these to:
Produce reports and provide management information
Analyse data to identify highlights and trends,
Improve efficiency of operational processes,
Identify areas for improvement and make recommendations,
Support quality assurance of both service delivery and ensure that centrally held data is robust and fit for purpose.

You will gain hands-on experience of Data analysis in Local Government by working as part of a team and assisting in the delivery of quality data reporting within the council.

The Person


Keen to learn, you will demonstrate good communication skills, an understanding of good customer service, team work and an interest in developing a career in Data analysis.



You will be self-motivated, with a “can-do” attitude and a readiness to suggest practical and innovative approaches to undertaking research and performance activities, and creative ways of presenting and sharing findings.

You will also need to show your interest in local government and the delivery of public services. We will also be looking for a flexible and positive approach to work.
