This is an opportunity to join the Housing team based at Bartholomew House. We are looking for someone to join our Housing Needs service.

Housing Need officers play a critical role in supporting the Local Authority to provide assistance, accommodation and advice to people with a complex range of housing issues as such we are looking for people that are passionate about achieving outcomes for individuals in need. 

Your drive, motivation and the energy you can bring to the role is more important than your professional background to date.

Main advert detail

The successful candidate will work as part of a large team that works flexibly and covers a wide range of responsibilities. This includes front-line assessment of housing need and the council's statutory homeless duties, the allocation of emergency and supported accommodation and access to the housing register. The role can be fast paced and requires someone who can deliver excellent  service to people who present in what are sometimes difficult circumstances.

The successful candidate will have a strong focus on the needs of the people that are seeking assistance and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment, you should be a strong team player who embraces change and is able to work flexibility in order to meet the needs of the service and the people that we seeking to assist.

Ideally you should have some experience of dealing directly with members of the public and working in collaboration with others to achieve results. You should have some understanding of the issues faced by individuals who are homeless or in housing need.

You will be a self starter who can demonstrate a range of skills that include excellent customer service, strong organisational skills, as well as an effective communicator with an ability to achieve results.
