We are looking for enthusiastic, caring, compassionate individuals who would like to help support the provision of the Severn Day Services on a casual contract basis.
The Day Service offers day care activities and lunch to older people with organic mental health needs; including Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias.
The focus of the post is to help create and maintain a supportive, safe and stimulating atmosphere and to meet the needs of both individuals and groups of service users. The role will be key in enabling service users to maximise their independence and choice through meaningful activities, whilst maintaining their dignity, rights and risk taking. The postholder will be required to give physical, social and emotional care and support when necessary.
Knowledge and experience of working with people with dementia is required. Some manual handling will be required, assisting service users to mobilise safely, and some personal care tasks i.e. toileting, assisting to eat/drink.
You should be able to remain calm, supportive and kind when faced with repetitious, unpredictable and/or verbally/physically aggressive behaviours. You should be confident in the caring role around people with needs associated with dementia.
The successful applicant will help supplement regular contracted staff in the provision of supportive day to day care. Working hours are on a two-week rota Monday to Friday, between 9.00am and 5.30pm. This post is to provide support to cover annual leave, training commitments and staff absence on a casual basis.
We are also currently advertising for a role with contracted hours (24 hours per week) to meet the needs of the service (to apply for the contracted hours role please apply under Reference PCRF1118 before 12 December 2018).
