Independent Reviewing Officer (Foster Care)

Permanent Post

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Sefton Council for an Independent Reviewing Officer to act as the co-ordinator and chairperson for the review of Foster Carers. The post is 0.6 FTE

The successful candidate will work alongside the Independent Reviewing Officers who undertake the reviews of Looked after children and will be linking in with the fostering service in Sefton. You will promote participation of fostered children and their social workers in the review process and ensure advocacy is used if necessary

You will be an experienced social worker with a good understanding of fostering and safeguarding procedures. You will be able to chair meetings effectively and to contribute to the quality assurance responsibilities of the safeguarding and fostering service. You will create meaningful records and be able to contribute to ongoing training and development of foster carers

If successful, you will also be required to apply for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults across the Borough. As such the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act relating to the non-disclosure of spent convictions do not apply to this job.
