Commissioning high quality children’s social care and special educational need placements is a priority for Halton Borough Council. Ensuring that these placements are not only robust, but also offer the best possible value for money for the Council underpins this. This post will sit within the newly established centralised placement division which has been set up in Halton to have the dedicated focus, oversight and responsibility of the whole lifecyle placement process.
This role will lead the sourcing of a portfolio of high quality, value for money and carefully selected placements based on short and long term requirements of children and young people’s needs within the borough. This involves responding to placement requests, both planned and emergency.
The post holder will have a degree in health or social care or equivalent professional qualification along with experience of commissioning placements for children and young people. Excellent written and communications skills are a key requirement as well as the ability to work effectively within a team and independently without direct supervision. The role will require experience in negotiation and recording of information systems as well as collaborative working with a range of providers.
