This is a part time position working 18 hours per week.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team responsible for the assessment and review of young people, with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
The role will be to monitor and maintain the Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan for a caseload of young people with SEND, working in close partnership with parents, carers, schools, colleges and a range of other agencies. You will need a sound working knowledge of SEN and disability, and have a Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) recognised (Level 4 or above) Youth and Community Work qualification, Teaching, Social Work or Careers Guidance qualification or have substantial experience of working with children and young people with SEND through formal and informal processes and group work skills as a Personal Advisor/youth worker/key worker/teacher/careers advisor/counsellor/SEND Caseworker. Commitment to person centred and personalised approaches are essential, as are excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to create high quality outcomes based plans.
A superb communicator at all levels you must have excellent organisational skills, a high level of literacy and good knowledge of SEND in a school-based environment. Knowledge of SEND in a college based environment is desirable. The role also calls for Knowledge of Equal Opportunities in working with children and young people and an understanding of law and procedures relating to the SEND Code of Practice, and the changes associated with the Children and Families Act 2014.
