Role Purpose

We are looking for Principal Planning officers to join ourDevelopment Management Team, to help manage the borough's significantgrowth opportunities and contribute to on-going regeneration and renewal.

The Council has embarked on an ambitious housingcapital delivery programme which aims to deliver 1,000 new council homes by2022, with an additional 1,000 in the pipeline.



Key Responsibilities

We are looking for candidates who can lead majorand strategic development proposals from pre-application stage, to submissionand determination. You will also beresponsible for managing assessment and negotiating with applicants to ensurethe Council’s planning and place-making objectives are delivered, in a timelymanner, whilst offering an excellent levels of customer service.

Principal Planners will establish proactiveworking relationships with key development partners, through the use ofplanning performance agreements. Principal Officers will also assist Team Leaders, by supporting or supervising colleagues and will have opportunities to contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Permanentand fixed term contract positions are available.

Requirements

We are seeking experienced officers witha thorough working knowledge of the UK planning system, policy framework and the planning issues facing inner London. You willneed to be a motivated self-starter, solution focussed with strong projectmanagement skills, negotiation skills and an eye for detail.
