The Service Support Officer is a member of the Service Support Team. The Service Support Team supports the Revenues Service in delivering its operations by providing control and maintenance of all computer systems used within Revenues and Benefits to maximise system availability and efficiency. The team is also responsible for monitoring performance of the Service.
The team is responsible for annual billing of Council Tax and Business Rates and uprating of benefit cases and the completion of Government returns including the Housing Benefit subsidy claims amounting to £19 million at Chiltern District Council and £15 million at South Bucks District Council.
This post is responsible for the administration of Revenues computer systems, scheduling and running software jobs and maintaining parameter and security controls. This post will require the expertise to be responsible for scheduling and running the routines to generate and balance annual billing for Business Rates and Council Tax and to uprate benefit claims (totalling excess of £100 million). On a regular basis the post holder will be responsible for the running the jobs to initiate direct debit payments (up to £3.5 million per run) and Housing Benefit payments (up to £1 million) for Chiltern District Council.
The post holder will require detailed technical knowledge of Revenues software and systems as well as wide knowledge of the complex legislation applicable to the Service.
The post holder will be required to work outside of office hours at times such as annual billing or when new software releases are being loaded.
