The role-

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced housing professional to lead the Council’s housing options team in delivering an excellent service to residents who are at risk of homelessness. This is a key role within the team; the successful candidate will require detailed knowledge and experience of implementing relevant legislation and guidance including the Homelessness Reduction Act. An experienced manager, you will have demonstrable pro-active skills in working in partnership with other agencies to prevent homelessness, drive up standards of service and share good practice.

Essential qualifications/experience-

An experienced team player with a passion for delivering an excellent housing advice service focussed on homeless prevention, you will have a minimum of two years’ experience working in a housing advice/homelessness role with detailed knowledge of the Council’s statutory duties. You will have excellent customer service and communication skills and an approachable management style with a positive and pro-active approach to dealing with challenging issues. You will have a track record of achievement in housing services including performance management and quality control with an enthusiastic approach towards developing targeted initiatives to prevent and relieve homelessness and inspire the team to deliver customer focussed housing services.

Desirable qualifications/experience-

You will demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and plan and manage your workload to meet deadlines, standards and targets. You will need a good working knowledge of current national housing policy issues, welfare reform and associated legislation and good practice.
