Young Person Adviser –Leaving Care Team (Independent Futures)
Independent Futures supports just over 420 young people between 16 and 25 years old. Our Young Person’s Advisers work jointly with our co-located Looked After Children social workers with young people before they reach 18 and our young people between 18 and 25 years old.
Our young people are at the heart of everything we do. With this in mind, Islington is practicing in a trauma informed approach. We believe by better understanding the lived experiences of our young people, we are better positioned to engage, support and assist our young people to reach their full potential. Relationships are central to achieving the very best outcome for our young people and their families. Therefore, relationship based practice is at the centre of our approach.
In return, we offer dedicated training, coaching and supervision to develop your skills in this area. We have opportunities to consult with clinicians on cases and offer a range of appropriate support services in borough for our young people. Islington Children Social Care was judged by OFSTED in June 2017 as being Good with Outstanding Leadership. The Independent Futures team is well resourced and enjoys a stable and supportive workforce.
Islington is looking to recruit enthusiastic and talented Young Person Advisers who are interested in professional development opportunities as well as having a passion and ability to work with young people, sometimes in challenging circumstances. Our caseloads are varied, from young people who are very stable and settled and those who need more intensive support and safeguarding.
We are really proud of our young people and their achievements. We are looking for Young Person Advisers who will be tenacious in engaging, safeguarding and supporting our young people to fulfil their education, employment and training aspirations. As a Young Persons Advisers you will bring experience of assessing and managing risk, undertaking person centred planning in active collaboration with young people. You will need to have good direct work skills, the ability to engage young people and skills in multi-agency working. You will be able to record effectively and bring the principles of dignity, respect, empathy, and a strength based, collaborative approach to service delivery. You will need to be able to work within a team and also using your own initiative.

Motivation Interview Dates: 9th January 2019 and 11th January 2019. This will be based on a scenario of an interaction between a Young Persons Advisor and a young person.
Those candidates who are successful following the motivation Interview will be invited back for a panel interview on the 16th and 17th January 2019
