Advert introduction

This role offers an exciting and sometimes challenging opportunity to support, assist and empower homeless clients to maintain their accommodation and improve their onward life chances through correct financial management.

Your role is also essential to maximise the authorities income in an extremely challenging financial environment.

Main advert detail

You will be working as part of an established team of Credit Control Officers helping to manage rent accounts and other financial matters on behalf of vulnerable homeless tenants housed by Brighton and Hove City Council.

You will need to be empathetic to the needs of our client group whilst also empowering them to deal with their finances. The role is a great introduction to working in a local authority environment and you will get to experience many areas of the business.

You need to have good basic numeracy and literacy skills and a basic knowledge of the welfare benefit system and the issues which can impact upon tenants not being able to pay their rent. On the job training and support will be offered to the successful candidates.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community but particularly encourage BAME, disabled, LGB, male and trans applicants as these groups are currently under-represented in our directorate workforce.
