Transport, Economy, & Environment at Buckinghamshire County Council responds to the public’s needs through its innovative delivery of transportation, economic growth and environmental services for Buckinghamshire.
Regeneration and Infrastructure is one of 5 delivery units within Transport, Economy, Environment. Its focus is on major project development and delivery to support economic growth through new roads and rail projects, town centre regeneration schemes and environmental enhancement projects.
The R&I directorate is unique within the County Council by taking a consultancy led, project funded approach to its business. We work closely with key stakeholders on national infrastructure projects (HS2 and East West Rail) and complex developments such as Aylesbury Woodlands and High Wycombe Town Centre regeneration, as well as innovative corporate schemes to drive savings through effective design.

About the Role
The projects we deliver are challenging, complex, interesting and provide real benefit to Buckinghamshire residents.
We’re looking for project managers to join our Highways Infrastructure Projects team delivering a range of highway improvements from sustainable travel projects and junction improvements to multiple new link roads and town centre regeneration. Projects are funded from a variety of sources including BCC, District Councils, Developer funding, BTVLEP and HS2.

We can offer you the chance to help change the county of Buckinghamshire for the better. As a member of our TEE team, you will tackle key projects designed to improve our environment and economy. You can be sure that you’ll be a valued member of our team, with the power to make an impact from day one.
In this role you will help project manage complex new and/or existing projects that originate from within the TEE Service and other internal clients within the Council. Involved from project inception, you will work closely with stakeholders to set and then deliver the brief, with an emphasis on creative solutions and innovation to maximise benefits for the residents of Buckinghamshire. You will also have a commercial agenda to explore income return from projects; to get greater value from the supply chain and to evaluate and mitigate project risks.
Working with colleagues in the Highways Infrastructure Projects team and relevant in-house expert officers and teams, you'll ensure that projects are delivered on time and to budget, which will require you to work closely with and manage external specialist support where appropriate. You will report progress via a Project Board including highlight reporting, risk management and exception reporting. You will work with colleagues to ensure procurement is carried out in an appropriate manner.

Organised and IT-literate, you are a Project Management professional. You can co-ordinate partners, contribute to virtual teams and work with stakeholders, drawing on your communication skills. Well versed in standard MS Office software, you are also a capable financial manager, ensuring your projects don’t go over budget or deadline. Experience of construction projects and commissioning of consultants along with knowledge of Prince 2 methodology is desirable, and you will have a determined, can-do approach committed to succeeding.
Where our roles are customer-facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the role.
